gone too soon - my mini-pug

26 September 2015

the runt with spunk. that is what you were then.
your siblings were 2x your size but you still manage to box them off during breastfeeding time.
you probably got internal injuries with them jumping on you, not because they want to, but because you were just so small, they couldn't really see you.

it always brought a smile when we would watch you feed off the milk bowl.
how you would go around the bowl first before taking a sip.
and how you end up with your milky moustache after all that dipping in the bowl.
and you always end up sneezing out some of the milk you just took in.

your way of saying good morning was to purr like an angry kitten,
wanting to get out of your cage. because really, who wants to stay in one?

i wish you had stayed on though.
but the odds were pretty much against you.
to my mini-pug, thank you for the short but sweet memories.

[olive] my sister from another breed

we are almost always together. we often share what i have. unfortunately, that is not usually the case the other way around. yes, she is the spoiled one. perhaps because she has a face only a mother can love.

that's probably why she is such an attention-getter.  and because i am such a good dog, i share what i have. especially any attention i get along the way. i can't help it. i am huggable.

and pretty, right? :) and yes, she often does photobomb my picture perfect poses.

but when all is said and done. she is a very good companion.
a very good foil to my antics and tricks.

and she treats me like the queen i am.

that's my sister from another breed - iaree marie!

[olive] the (mis)adventure of chokie

meet chokie. my dachshund and shipoo mix dog-sister. she normally just keeps to herself, the introvert type, really. i guess she is unhappy most of the time since she needs to stay in the cage lest she wander off.

as you can see, chokie takes after her mum, the late janelle ( pure dachshund) in terms of size. she can easily squeeze herself in between the railings of our gate. so, for her own safety, she stays in a cage most of the time, being let out regularly (usually in the mornings) for some horsing (or should i say dogging?) around with me and the rest of the pack.

she really is affectionate once she opens up to you. and next to her mum, chokie  was the most welcoming when i first came home.

August 3, 2013 was a sad day for us when chokie decided to break free and discover what was out there. it worried my humans so much as she is not used to running along roads, fearing that she will get run over or if she was picked up and sold either as a pet or God forbid, for dog meat!

so, my human found herself taking quick looks at black dogs even while driving to and from home. hoping to chance upon chokie as she went around in her adventure of a lifetime.

just when we were resigned to not seeing her anymore, one good news came. my human's nephew saw chokie hanging around a gated house that looked like our house :) quickly, they picked her up and got her home! so, last August 22, 2013, chokie came home.

chokie must have had a hard life during the days she was away. for the past weeks since she came back, she has been eating slowly, never finishing up her food. always a little leftover is there, which she proceeds to eat later in the day. perhaps, saving some food, after having gone hungry for days.

in any case, thank you to the kind people who had given food to all stray dogs.
thank God, chokie found them while she was wandering around.

chokie never really liked having her pictures taken.
chokie, all stressed out after her misadventure
as of now, chokie is recovering. the fleas and ticks she picked up during her wandering days are almost completely gone. she is slowly finding her bark. her appetite is picking up.  pretty soon, the old chokie should be back :)

[iaree marie] a few of my favorite things

i am still quite young and still exploring. so far, these are my favorites.

my motto: if olive eats it, it must be good!

Top 3: Aveeno lotion.  i lick them as fast as my human can apply it on her legs.

Top 1: Sleeping and playing with my Ate Olive! she is all soft and cuddly.

[iaree marie] bling-bling!

dogs with collars always meant they had humans. loving or abusive humans, it does not matter.
this got me to checking the history of dog collars. and found some interesting facts in this link: Neck and Neck: A Brief History of Dog collars

but really, i just wanted to show off my bling-bling collar. and yes, it is in pink! i would have wanted it in fuschia but hey, beggars can't be choosers.

what do you think? :)

my pink bling-bling!

p.s.  olive got jealous when she saw it on my neck. it is not my fault if she has a really big neck and this won't fit her. +Nimfa Nimis , please do buy Olive a bling-bling collar as well. her red collar is just so... boring!

[olive] My version of the tsunami walk

up until recently, i ( pretty olive), can do a mean tsunami walk that would put shamcey supsup to shame. should the video clip below play successfully, this is a milder version of MY tsunami walk. the meds did their work in correcting my way of walking.

yes, i have hip dysplasia.

wikipedia defines this as:

"Hip dysplasia is an abnormal formation of the hip socket that, in its more severe form, can eventually cause crippling lameness and painful arthritis of the joints. It is a genetic (polygenic) trait that is affected by environmental factors. It can be found in many animals and occasionally in humans, but is most commonly associated with dogs, and is common in many dog breeds, particularly the larger breeds."

while this disease can be hereditary in nature, it can be induced by some environmental factors including: too much love for food resulting in an overweight condition, too adventurous even at an early age causing injury while still young or overexertion on hip joint, or a too zealous over exercise human who brings their pup during jogging. And this is just a few of how it can happen.

my case is more of me looking extremely cute when i am all full and chubby thus my human thinks i should never go without food.

but seeing me in pain and limping around was just too much of a discomfort and was too worrying for my human thus, upon the advice of doc jerry, i had to:
  • take calcium supplements, daily
  • take hip&joint tablets to enhance healing
  • exercise!
  • eat only Dog food.
  • NOT have human and table food ( this was the worst torture!)

and it all worked! i don't bunny hop anymore, i pretty much walk straighter than before and my hind legs are now fuller. i am a lot slimmer and sexier, too! :D

so, to all humans who love your dogs, proper food, diet and exercise goes a long way.
that goes for both the HUMAN and the DOG.

[iaree marie] yes, my name is Iaree Marie

hello :)  i am iaree marie.

i am the cutest pug ever! or so my human, nelanie is her name, thinks. dra dacut, my pretty doc,  says i have a diamond wrinkle, which is something to be prized by pugs. that makes me a diamond in the rough! i am all of 4 months today, my birthday being november 16, 2012.
Bonding with Olive the lab
yes, i do bond mostly with Olive the lab. either during playtime, eating sessions or just lazing around and catching some zzzs. i have not been to the outside world that much but hopefully, i get to play out there soon! of course, i will be mindful of the cars and tricycles. i hate what they did to janel the doxie. i  met her briefly and she was just so friendly and adorable.

i do know some tricks now. i know how to sit when asked! and just getting started on the "down" command :) i will share a video sometime soon :)
